Artificial intelligence was undoubtedly the dominant topic at this year's LEARNTEC. Almost every second presentation was AI-related and the exhibition stands were also characterized by this trend. However, there is also an enormous gap between the technical possibilities and the speed of AI development on the one hand and the speed of implementation in companies on the other. But for e-learning providers, too, it means that it is not enough to integrate an AI button into a text editor and hope that it will be put to good use. Rather, we must learn to separate the wheat from the chaff and integrate AI in such a way that it delivers real added value for L&D.
We are in a decisive phase in which experimentation with AI is giving way to productive implementation. L&D teams are faced with the challenge of developing their own AI strategies that not only promote efficiency but also innovation. This is exactly what the short keynote speeches at the youknow stand were about, in which Friedl Wynants highlighted practical steps for introducing AI in L&D and provided insights into proven - and less proven - Use Cases directly from corporate practice. These impulses are not only valuable for those who are at the beginning of their AI journey, but also for those who have already achieved initial success and are now faced with the task of taking the next step. You can watch the presentation "AI-ready: Getting started with AI in L&D in five steps" exclusively here.
At youknow, we are celebrating the fact that our Authoring Tool "knowtion" is pioneering how AI can be used sensibly for content creation. The fully automated generation of content - virtually at the touch of a button - in high didactic quality has aroused great interest and made our stand a real crowd puller. But there were also exciting developments to be seen at LEARNTEC beyond our own product range, such as AI-supported skill and talent management systems, adaptive learning systems for personalized learning and chatbots for conversation skills training.
LEARNTEC showed us that AI in L&D has to be more than just a buzzword. The technology offers the opportunity not only to optimize existing processes, but also to break completely new ground in learning. It is important that we realize that the use of AI represents a major change that needs to be shaped.
In conclusion, LEARNTEC 2024 has given us many impulses for the here and now, but also for the future. It is up to us to pick up on these impulses and translate them into meaningful strategies and measures that focus not only on technology, but above all on people.
Get started with AI directly in L&D practice
Are you already using AI in your day-to-day L&D work? If not yet, our workshop is just right for you: learn from Friedl Wynants, founder and CEO of youknow, and AI expert and Head of AI Innovation at youknow, Jacques Alomo, how to use AI tools sensibly and safely for your practical work. You will also learn about the potential and limitations of current systems and gain confidence in the application of AI.
