Porsche AG

The challenge
Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is becoming increasingly important as an economic megatrend in many companies. AI offers a wide range of potential applications, particularly in the automotive industry. Porsche AG has set itself the goal of making all its employees fit in this area and creating awareness for it as a first step. The aim is to reduce fears surrounding the topic of automation and create acceptance for AI. At the end, employees should have a basic knowledge for practice, a uniform understanding of AI and be familiar with its potential applications in general and at Porsche AG in particular.
As the most successful manufacturer of exclusive sports cars and a brand for sporty mobility, Porsche also places the highest demands on the further training of its employees - and thus also on the quality of this training course. The aim is to create an entertaining and interactive learning experience that is fun and memorable for learners.

The solution
An interactive learning journey
With this goal in mind, an interdisciplinary "AI@Porsche" team consisting of subject matter experts and learning designers worked intensively with the e-learning professionals from youknow. The result is impressive: The resulting learning module "AI@Porsche" is an interactive journey through a virtual learning world and creates a learning experience that is entertaining and at the same time motivates users to engage with the potential applications of artificial intelligence at Porsche.
Inspired by computer games with point-and-click logic, the learning content is not conveyed using traditional slides, but instead the learners move through different rooms during the training. In each of the 8 rooms, different objects can be clicked on, which then lead to content, films and interactions.
The training presents Porsche-specific use cases of AI - such as a Porsche BOT - and explains the underlying technology. This makes the content tangible for learners and directly transferable to the Porsche world.
As the target group's level of prior knowledge is very heterogeneous, learners can go to the library from the main menu at any time to refresh their definitions and background knowledge of the most important terms.
As an Easter Egg, learners collect hidden objects throughout the training that lead them to an additional interaction at the end. All these little tricks and gamification elements ensure a fun and memorable learning experience. Fears or worries about automation are reduced in a playful way, while at the same time acceptance for AI is created.
The following video gives you an impression of the training.
Porsche makes the learning module available to all Porsche AG employees via the company-internal LMS. They can complete the learning program on a voluntary basis. At the same time, Porsche is organizing a series of lectures and internal face-to-face events on the topic of AI (e.g. the open event series AI Monday). Through the interaction of these events and the interactive learning module, further Use Cases for the use of AI are to be identified by the wider workforce. In addition to this training, Porsche also uses other online offerings and corresponding face-to-face measures to train technical experts.

Matthias Görtz
Project Manager AI@Porsche
Porsche AG
„We deliberately opted for a complex implementation and motivating learning design for this topic. Not just to make it fun, but so that we can reach everyone at Porsche and position AI as a "problem solver in everyday life". When colleagues come to us with concrete use cases, we can use new technologies sensibly together at Porsche and take a big step in the digital transformation of the company. The trusting and creative collaboration with youknow was an important success factor. The project team quickly got to grips with the subject matter and developed suitable ideas. The result is really impressive!“

Feedback & Ergebnisse
