The baumann group is a family business that has been manufacturing high-quality kitchen furniture for over 100 years and stands for fresh designs and innovative technology. With around 1,100 employees at two locations in Germany, it sells 140,000 kitchens per year.

The initial situation

Quickly digitize classroom training

Until the beginning of 2020, training and further education for the baumann group's retail partners took place primarily in the form of face-to-face events at three training centers, organized and conducted by the baumann academy. Training courses were offered there on various topics and for different specialist areas.

With the onset of the coronavirus pandemic, baumann academy, like many companies, faced new challenges: Face-to-face training is no longer possible to the same extent, instead a change to digital learning is necessary - all baumann academy training courses are to be digitized. As the baumann group has large structures, very different target groups in some cases and the majority of training has previously been provided via face-to-face training, digitalization poses a particular challenge in a relatively short space of time.

The solution

youknow LMS as a central distribution tool

This situation gave rise to two major tasks for the baumann academy: Firstly, the digitization of its learning content, and secondly, distribution - the right content must reach the right target group at the right time. The company therefore decided to introduce a Learning Management System (LMS). The central requirement here is that learners are divided into groups and relevant courses can then be played out to them. In this way, users receive content that exactly meets their needs - whether in the form of webinars, web-based training or - if possible again - face-to-face training.

The choice fell on the youknow LMS - the price-performance ratio was convincing compared to the competition. The LMS is now the central organization and distribution tool of the baumann academy, i.e. all training courses of the baumann group. In the first step - when the situation allowed it again - presence training was mapped via the LMS. This was followed shortly afterwards by the first webinars and finally web-based training is now gradually being added to the LMS and distributed via it.

Since 2022, the baumann academy has been relying on another tool from youknow: knowtion - the smart AI Authoring Tool that thinks for itself - is now being used for the internal production of learning content.

Purpose and target groups of the LMS

The training courses are aimed at all trade partners and fitters and cover a wide range of topics. The aim is to train and develop sales staff, designers and architects, among others, and to increase sales through safe and trained processes in planning with baumann group furniture.
