How KAESER organizes its worldwide training courses

KAESER KOMPRESSOREN is one of the leading suppliers of compressed air systems with headquarters in Coburg in Upper Franconia. The company has around 7,000 employees worldwide and its own subsidiaries as well as exclusive trading partners in over 140 countries. The product portfolio includes customized and energy-efficient compressed air solutions. KAESER was looking for an efficient way to train its employees, who are spread all over the world.

The initial situation

International training needs

KAESER KOMPRESSOREN decided to introduce e-learning back in 2006 in order to reduce the time employees spent attending seminars. As the need for training and the desire for digitalization also increased internationally in the following years, KAESER KOMPRESSOREN now also uses digital learning content to train employees at its other locations worldwide. This should not only be possible at the workplace, but also on the move, using responsive learning units.

The solution

Multilingual, collaborative Authoring Tool

Due to the global presence of KAESER KOMPRESSOREN, the learning modules have to be created in several languages. In addition, authors from different countries must be able to work together on projects.

KAESER KOMPRESSOREN introduced the Authoring Tool from youknow, which offers helpful features for creating and translating multilingual training and enables collaborative work. For example, it is not necessary to create a separate project for each language version, but all languages can be edited in one and the same project. Translators can see directly where adjustments have been made in the source language and can then adapt these in the language to be translated. A detailed statistic provides an overview of the status of the pages to be translated. Thanks to the preview function, authors can check whether the text lengths also match the respective template in other languages.

Customized template sets are also available to ensure uniform implementation of the training and optimal responsive display on all end devices. This means that learners can access the content that is important to them anytime and anywhere.

The introduction of the Authoring Tool brings numerous advantages for both authors and learners.

Creators have the opportunity to work together on projects - anywhere in the world, as the Authoring Tool is cloud-based. Translators can also be integrated directly into ongoing projects so that learning modules can be quickly created in parallel in different languages. Internal communication tools also enable efficient coordination between all project participants such as authors, translators, testers, specialist departments, etc.

Learners benefit from the fact that the learning modules are also available in their native language and not just in German and English, as was previously the case. This improves comprehensibility for all learners and ensures an even better learning effect.
